Father Joe’s Villages Announces Saint Teresa of Calcutta Villa at Groundbreaking Ceremony

Father Joe's Villages recently broke ground to begin construction for Saint Teresa of Calcutta Villa, what will soon be a 14-story affordable housing facility with 407 units to give those facing homelessness a home in our community.

The project is set to double the number of housing units Father Joe’s Villages currently provides. Among affordable housing options, the foundation works diligently to provide resources and support for those living on the streets. Favoring solution-based actions they strive to meet the basic needs of those living on the streets, provide support and services during the transition, and make health a priority. The support and services Father Joe’s Villages provide is the keystone to changing the lives of individuals who suffer from homelessness.

Terrence Caster, founder of Caster Group and A-1 Self Storage, donated $10 million to help fund the new construction project. Present at the groundbreaking ceremony, he stood alongside San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer, City Councilman Chris Ward, and County Supervisor Nathan Fletcher to support the foundation's most elaborate project to date and take action to aid individuals who suffer from homelessness.

Homelessness is an issue the entire Caster family has long supported. Brian Caster, CEO of A-1 Self Storage shares, “The Caster family and A-1 Self Storage are passionate about working toward solutions to help solve the huge problem with homelessness in our city, and around the state. Today, my parents’ gift is going towards just one step in the solution to the homeless problem. There are many steps before an individual is ready for permanent housing like Saint Teresa of Calcutta Villas. We are proud to support organizations such as Father Joe’s Villages, Sunbreak Ranch, and East County Transitional Living Center. These organizations help get people off the street, and provide much needed support services for a person or family in need.”

It is a journey for individuals and families alike to get off the street and into stable homes. Saint Teresa of Calcutta Villa provides hope and motivation to those working towards permanent housing.
