Now is a great time to organize your current inventory, and donate unwanted items. There are many charities that will accept gently used items and give them to those in need. Or, you may know of a family in need that you can donate to as well. Below is a list of frequently needed items that are perfect to donate this time of year. Out with the old, in with the new!
- Clothing. Do you have some clothes that you haven’t worn in a while or have outgrown? Look through your clothes and children’s clothes to see if there are some gently used items you can donate to families in need, shelters, or charities. It is cold this time of year, which makes jackets a great item to donate. Some charities will also accept gently used shoes.
- Blankets. Another great donation during the cold winter months are blankets. Shelters can always use extra blankets, or you can hand them out to the homeless in your area.
- Toys and books. Children get many new toys and books around the holidays. It is a great time to teach children about giving! Have them go through their current toys and books, and gather some things they want to donate to children in need. Local charities will gladly accept gently used toys and books, and this is also a great way to make room for new items.
Don’t forget to take a look at what you might have in your storage unit and see if there are additional items you might wish to donate. Now you’re all set to get organized by giving back!
