If you've driven by our new A-1 Self Storage location in Pacific Beach, you've probably noticed a giant blue marlin when driving by on Garnet Avenue!
As part of the City of San Diego's Civic Enhancement Program, we've installed a fun piece of public art on our building. To give our newest location a unique feel that ties into the history and vibe of the Pacific Beach community, artist Hyunsook Cho created a large sculptural wall-mounted relief depicting a box with an open top exposing commonly stored items. She titled this piece "My Neighborhood." Objects included in the box are a beach cruiser, surfboard, couch, skateboard, life preserver, lamp, file cabinet, office chair, a storage cabinet, and of course, that giant blue marlin.
We previously worked with Hyunsook Cho in 2003, when she designed the artwork for our storage facility in the NoHo Arts District of North Hollywood, CA. She is renowned for her diverse, yet whimsical pieces of art. Artful Living, a San Diego based art consulting firm, served as our art consultant for this project.
We encourage all community members to stop by and enjoy this new installation to Pacific Beach's vibrant public art scene.
