Shannon: Congratulations on one year with A-1 Self Storage!

Tina: Haha, thank you.

Shannon: Before A-1 Self Storage, where did you work?

Tina: Used to work at Walgreens as an associate.

Shannon: How did you end up applying at A-1 Self Storage?

Tina: Actually my brother was working here and said he liked it. So he recommended me to Brian Louis, and that's how I got here!

Shannon: Oh nice! How long were you at Walgreens before you decided to make a change?

Tina: I was working at Walgreens for a year. I was part-time over there I wanted a full-time job. And my brother liked it here, so I thought I would give it a try. I am now an Associate here.

Shannon: Sounds like it was meant to be. Was it an easy transition for you?

Tina: Yeah, I mean I just liked it from the beginning. And I still like it! I like talking to people, helping out people, and making it easy for them.

Shannon: Was there anything that surprised you once you started working here?

Tina: Yeah a couple of things, because I never used storage before. Like people going to auction and how that goes. It is a process where if you don't make payments, you can go to auction and sell the unit and everything inside your unit. I would say it happens about every 2 months.

Shannon: Yeah, that’s an interesting way of handling that kind of situation! So over the past year, is there anyone who has been especially helpful in teaching you the ropes of self storage?

Tina: Yes! My co-workers Kim and Gaby, they were both here before me, so they helped me.

Shannon: That’s great to hear! Do you have any advice for someone who is in getting into self storage?

Tina: I would tell them that this is kind of like an adventure. Because you have a lot of stores, and people who come here and first you might think, “oh, I will I will not be able to get this,” or “it's too hard” or something. But then you’ll see it's probably the best job, and it is a job that you will like to do. It doesn't get you stressed, or make you dread coming to work. It's something that you will eventually like to do.

Shannon: How has it been working with customers in self storage?

Tina: I have a lot of customers here! I really like them. I work hard to find them a good price for them. I have a lot of customers that I know really well now. It’s not like I see them one day and forget about them the next. I know them well.

Shannon: That must be a great feeling. So switching gears to more personal questions, do you have any family here in the area? Hobbies that you enjoy?

Tina: I'm here with my husband and my son because my family is back in Europe and it's only me that is here. My son is 2 years old. We spend a lot of time together.

Shannon: That’s so nice! I bet having a 2-year-old keeps you pretty busy.

Tina: Haha yes he does!

Shannon: You mentioned that you’re from Europe, what part?

Tina: I'm from Albania. I've been here for 4 years now, since October 1st.

Shannon: Oh wow that’s a long ways away! Congrats on 4 years! Are there any restaurants in the area that you like to frequent?

Tina: I love Cheesecake Factory! It's great there.
