Here at A-1 Self Storage, we know our success is due to our wonderful team. The care they give our customers is unparalleled and we want to highlight their milestones along the way. Below is an interview with team member Siara Luna, who is celebrating her first year with A-1 Self Storage.
Colby: What year anniversary are you celebrating at A-1?
Siara: This is my one-year anniversary.
Colby: Now, you're a floater, so you bounce around to a lot of difference facilities?
Colby: What’s your primary function as a floater?
Siara: Typically I am just around for a little extra help. I fill in for managers from time-to-time as well.
Colby: What would you say is the biggest thing you've learned about the industry in your first year?
Siara: The biggest thing that I have learned in this industry? Well, I haven't done it before, so I had to get accustomed to the sizes of the units, and the types of things that people store. After a while, the job does become second nature but at first there is a big learning curve.
Colby: What was it that drew you to storage when you first applied?
Siara: Well, A-1 Self Storage is a pretty big company and they are pretty well known. I was applying a lot of places at the time, so I put my application in at A-1 Self Storage and got hired pretty quickly.
Colby: Do you have a favorite story or moment you have experienced over the past year?
Siara: Not really. I used to work Downtown for my first eight months and we had to deal with a lot of people. Not just customers, but other people as well. There are a lot of stories about that, but nothing really crazy.
Colby: What are your favorite hobbies when you aren't at work?
Siara: I am actually boxing right now, and I am trying to get into an amateur fight. Right now, I am working on my sparring and conditioning. I train at the Sports Arena in San Diego.
Colby: Super cool. What is your favorite restaurant in the city?
Siara: I like a lot of restaurants around here, but I guess my favorite is Pho Point Loma. It's great Vietnamese soup and a really great place to eat.
Colby: Last question: Would you like to give a shout out to anybody for helping you get through year one?
Siara: Yeah, my manager, Emma Rodriguez, has both taught me a lot, and helped me a lot too. She is great and I really appreciate her.
