Yes, that’s right you can live just far enough away from Disneyland to escape the daily crowds, but close enough to hop on a train or grab an Uber and you’ll be there in minutes.  If you are a Star Wars lover, you certainly will not be able to pass up moving to Santa Ana with the new Disney Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge exhibit just 20 minutes away!

Cost of Living

Alas, the allure of delectable food, designer shopping, the great outdoors, and the close proximity of Disneyland all come at a cost and it is important to research the cost of living before you pack your bags and head for Santa Ana. You will be glad to know that the cost of living in Santa Ana is 3% lower than the California average and the crime rate is 6% lower than the national average. The median rent to live in the middle of all the excitement is $1,354 and the median price to purchase a home is $383,900.While rent is no to the only factor in determining your next destination it can make it or break it, but the average price of a home is 6% lower than the California average meaning your wallet does not have to take a hit for living in paradise! Let’s look at what exactly your options are as far as neighborhood homes and apartments downtown.

Neighborhoods

It is important to settle into a neighborhood you enjoy and can feel at home in. Whatever that may look like for you, it’s not hard to find, thanks to Santa Ana’s diversity in homes and apartments. Quality public schools, extremely low crime rates, and a playground for outdoor lovers, the Metro Classic is what every family dreams of.  This neighborhood takes on an urban style feel and presents many family-friendly style restaurants, coffee shops, and parks. If you fancy a smaller town feel and only want access to city life when you please, Jack Fisher Park is for you! With a population of just over 600, you’ll get that small town feel you desire and not have to pay the price of being remote. Better yet, the houses in Jack Fisher Park come with plenty of land for your outdoor style living, this way you get t the privacy and openness to desire and don’t have to be concerned with opening your door and hitting the neighbor’s house right beside you.  If you find it quite unappealing to not be within walking distance of your favorite bar or want to avoid downtown traffic by walking, you’ll want to check out Artists Village Apartments, Park City View, and Park Tower. All of which are located downtown and have walking scores upwards of 90 points. Each of which is also budget friendly ranging in price from $1,500 to $2,500. Whether you enjoy lounging in the back yard or making your way through the city on foot, there is a perfect home option for you!

Transportation

Stuck with a long commute extended further by daily traffic? The city has you covered with extensive transportation options. Travelers have the option to take the Amtrak, Metrolink, intercity and interstate buses, and taxis all from the Santa Ana Regional Transportation Center (SARTC). As a bonus, you can even fly out of the John Wayne airport which is a smaller less chaotic airport located just west of the 405 freeway. The SARTC is not one to disappoint either. Its building spans 7 acres and five stories, each beautifully decorated to fit its respective theme. From here you can get anywhere in orange county in no time!
