“I have a mobile sales truck that I sell all of our tools out of. I have a parking spot for the truck there and I also have a storage unit there,” Rob said.
Rob, who has been a customer of A-1 Self Storage since 2014, was initially apprehensive about storing the majority of his livelihood at a self storage facility. He had heard of other people working at Mac Tools having their trucks stolen off self storage facility lots.
“When I first started dealing with them there I was very concerned about that. The truck and the inventory value is well over $150,000, and I just figured it was a matter of time,” he said. “But we’ve never had any issues.”

“If I have a big freight order of stuff coming in I’ll call them and they are always happy to help me out by receiving it,” he said. “Which is really going way over the top. They certainly don’t have to do that. Their customer service is top-notch in my opinion. They help me out with a lot of stuff.”
Rob mentioned that, while the facility is actually not the closest facility to his home, he finds that having perks like these and staff willing to go above and beyond makes it worth it. In terms of affordability for a place of business, Rob said that the facility was an optimal place to have his business based out of.
“Here in Southern California everything is stupidly expensive. To think of the fact that you could run your business out of a storage facility like this beats the cost of any other options you may have, like renting an industrial building or something else,” he said.
